In case you need a little inspiration, here are some of our favourite things to see and do to have an extra-special experience.
OUR TOP TEN
1 Exploring by car – MASO DI VILLA offers guests a peaceful and relaxing stay, and an invaluable atmosphere of tranquillity and harmony that allows you to unplug from your hectic daily routine and enjoy the Italian “lifestyle”, but it is also close enough to nearby cities so that you may enjoy daily excursions to see the beauty of the surrounding area. Venture further by taking a drive around the scenic Prosecco Road, between Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, or the trendy Asolo and Bassano area, with one of our driving routes, to discover the real flavours of the Veneto region. It will give you a good feel for the wider region and its sights, and we can recommend small excellent wineries and restaurants as well.
2 Food and wine – The quality of the wines from these hills are world renown: Prosecco DOCG, reds and whites from the Colli of Conegliano, Cartizze, Torchiato di Fregona, Refrontolo Passito and Verdiso to name a few. The choice is endless. Have a taste of the most popular wineries and osterias in town: the best way to feel like a local!
3 Antiques markets – In Vittorio Veneto and Oderzo you’ll find antique markets held the first Sunday of the month; in Asolo, Collalto and Portobuffolè the second Sunday of the month; in Godega every third Sunday of the month; in Treviso (Borgo Cavour) and in Spresiano every fourth Sunday of the month (some of them excludes August).
4 Local artisans – Discover some of the regional talents who exemplify the spirit and raditions of this corner of Veneto. For those who wish not only to observe and taste, but also to learn how to grow genuine products and combine them to make delicious dishes. Perenzin’s delightful cheese shop is just one of our favourites.
5 History & culture – Explore historical villages, ruins and old churches, abbeys, castles and Palladian villas, museum and walled cities, treasures of art, artistic and historic sightseeings, amazing places far from the commercial tourist routes. Not the usual destinations, but itineraries to discover unknown ancient villages, listen to local fascinating stories, visit open-air farmer’s markets and take part in folkloristic events. Because culture is a matter of experience!
6 Cycling – The Prosecco Road is recognized as one of the most popular places for exploring on a bike in the Veneto region. There are also excellent mountain biking trails around Collalto. We encourage you to explore the surrounding areas by bike, as there is much to see and do, so MASO DI VILLA also offers a bike rental service. The bikes (normal or electric bikes) can be at the hotel ready for your arrival; all we need to know is how tall you are and how long you would like to rent them. You must reserve the bikes 24 hours in advance. Prices may vary according to season and availability.
7 Italian Cooking classes – Cooking represents culture, conviviality and creativity, while also representing a way of learning more about the traditions of the country in which one finds oneself.Learn how to cook traditional Italian recipes in hands-on classes with plenty of individual attention. Lessons are conducted by a professional chef, whose philosophy is that food is central to life. Meals should be full of flavor, beautifully presented, and not too difficult to prepare. It’s a question of lifestyle, and all that is required are the right skills and attitude.
8 Outdoor Activities – Experiencing the local flora and fauna is the number one choice for outdoor activities in the area. Enrico Tirindelli and his team of qualified and experienced staff are dedicated to delivering challenging outdoor activities that you won’t soon forget: trekking, nordic walking, mountain biking, climbing and abseiling, white water rafting. Excursions can be organized for singles, couples or groups. Call one of his dedicated staff on +39 328.0175442.
A tennis court and a riding school are located within a few kilometers. The Asolo Golf Club (about thirty minutes away) offers twenty-seven holes over three different golf courses, extending over an area of more than 140 hectares.
9 Walking – Enjoy a leisurely stroll around the village or venture a little further with one of our walking maps. Walk to nearby San Salvatore castle and back via the forested lanes and paths: our favourite short walk. But remember to take some water and protect yourself from the sun.
10 End of day – And now … if the weather obliges … find a quiet place on our terrace, watch the sun cast its fading light on the contours of the hills and enjoy a nice glass of NASI ROSSI. Welcome to Italy!
